Bloating, discomfort after meals, or a stomach that just doesn't feel right — these everyday troubles deserve a proper look, not just home remedies.
Book a consultationAn unsettled stomach can quietly shape your whole day — what you eat, how you sleep, how you feel around others. Many of our patients have tried adjusting their diet or waiting it out, only to find the discomfort keeps returning. It’s easy to assume this is just "normal," especially as we get older, but ongoing digestive discomfort is worth talking through with a doctor.
You deserve a clear answer about what's going on. The most practical first step is getting checked, so you know whether it's something simple or something that needs closer attention — and at MeridianHealth Medical Clinic, that check always comes first.
As always, we start with a medical consultation — this is where every visit begins, whatever the digestive concern. Digestive discomfort can come from many different causes, so our doctor will ask about your symptoms, diet, and history, and examine you — arranging lab work if helpful — before recommending any next step. This is especially important for digestive concerns, since some causes need medical attention rather than traditional therapy alone. Our TCM specialist is a graduate of the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a family-medicine specialist trained at the University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital (PGH), Manila, which means digestive concerns are evaluated with modern medical judgment first.
Where appropriate, our doctor may also suggest traditional approaches. In TCM, digestive comfort is closely tied to the smooth flow of qi through the body. Discomfort, bloating, and low energy after eating are often understood, in this traditional framework, as signs that this flow has become sluggish or blocked. This is sometimes described as a "cold" pattern, which in TCM is traditionally addressed with warmth. Moxibustion is a traditional choice believed to help with this, and many patients use acupuncture alongside their care for general digestive comfort and everyday wellness. As with all our traditional therapies, this is offered as a complement to medical care — not a diagnosis, treatment, or cure for any digestive condition.
Your medical consultation — including lab interpretation where relevant — always comes first and stays the foundation of your care; the traditional therapies above are only ever added on top of it, at your doctor’s discretion, never in place of it.
